1. Mold
It is almost always caused by abnormal water quality and temperature. This kind of symptom can spread quickly, so it is necessary to disinfect the commonly used utensils and treat the whole tank. It can be cured quickly with the mold medicine sold on the market. Or it can be treated with a salt bath, but the effect is slower. This disease is highly infectious to Siamese fighting fish. If not treated in time, it will cause death soon.

2. White Spot Disease
This is a common disease among tropical fish and is not only seen in betta fish. Irregular changes in water quality and temperature are likely to cause this disease. The characteristic is that there are white dots attached to the surface of the body. There are three treatment methods: 1. In the early stage of the disease, the water temperature can be raised to 30 degrees Celsius. 2. Use methylene blue and also raise the water temperature to 30 degrees Celsius. 3. Using a saltwater bath and heating it also has a good effect.
3. Velvet Disease (Pepper Disease)
This is a symptom where there are smaller white (or brown) dots, densely packed, looking like the fish's exterior is smeared with pepper. It is generally caused by sudden changes in water quality. A good effect can be achieved by using a saltwater bath.
4. Dropsy or Pinecone Disease
This disease is not easy to cure. It is an infection caused by the deterioration of water quality. The symptoms are that the fish scales stand up and a large amount of mucus is secreted from the fish body. The treatment must use antifungal and antibacterial drugs together, and pay more attention to leftover food and water quality.
5. Hole-in-the-Fin and Fin Rot
These are common diseases in betta fish. The appearance is like there is a small hole in the middle of the fin. Generally, it is caused by sudden changes in water quality or when the fish is moved, transported, or fights when in poor health. The treatment method can be to use yellow medicine and pay more attention to water quality to avoid secondary infections.
6. Fading Color
The body color of betta fish fades. The reason is poor health. Pay more attention to the bait and water quality.
7. Mucous Membrane Detachment from the Body Surface
Sudden changes in water quality cause damage to the mucous membrane on the body surface and it gets detached from the fish body. This is a common disease in betta fish after water change and often leads to death. When changing the water, more attention should be paid to the fish and make sure the water being changed is of good quality.
8. Minor Yellow Mouth Fish Disease
The initial cause is that betta fish get injured during intense fights. The wounds are infected by mold and suppurate. It is most common below the face and the swelling often extends to the back of the face.
9. Ascites
The appearance is like an abnormally swollen belly. The causes are almost always improper bait and poor water quality. But it is also possible to be caused by internal parasites. Generally, it starts with improving the water quality and changing the bait (reducing feeding), or even not feeding temporarily. If there is no effect, use internal deworming drugs after a while. This symptom is often accompanied by dropsy, and one needs to be very patient to treat this condition.
10. Clamped Tail
It is generally caused by poor water quality. Improving the water quality environment and using antibacterial drugs can cure it quickly.
