How to raise guppies?

The core points of raising guppies include choosing a suitable fish tank, maintaining appropriate water quality, controlling suitable water temperature and managing feeding. Although guppies are highly adaptable, details still need to be paid attention to during the breeding process to ensure their healthy growth.

First of all, choosing a suitable fish tank and equipment is the foundation. Guppies don't need a very large fish tank. Just determine the size of the fish tank according to the number of fish. Some decorations such as plants, rocks and caves should be set up in the fish tank to provide shelters and simulate the natural environment. At the same time, the fish tank should be disinfected before breeding. Potassium permanganate can be used for disinfection.

Water quality management is the key. Guppies are suitable for living in weakly alkaline or neutral water, and the pH value should be controlled between 6.8 and 7.4. Use clean tap water or aerated water. Change the water every 2 to 3 days, and replace 1/4 to 1/3 of the total water volume each time to keep the water clean.

Temperature and lighting cannot be ignored. The suitable growth temperature for guppies is 24-28°C. A heater can be used to maintain a constant temperature. Appropriate lighting helps make the colors of guppies more vivid.

Feeding management should be scientific. Guppies are omnivorous fish and can be fed with artificial bait, aquatic plants, insects, etc. Feed once in the morning and once in the evening every day. The feeding amount is preferably such that guppies can finish eating within 5 minutes. Avoid excessive feeding to prevent water quality deterioration.

Disease prevention should be noted. Observe the health status of guppies regularly and deal with abnormalities in time. Pay attention to the quality and hygiene of feed and avoid using expired and deteriorated feed. Keep the water clean to prevent the occurrence of diseases.

Through the above methods, guppies can be effectively raised to make them grow healthily.
