The Concentration Range of Salt for Koi Fish
The concentration range of salt used for koi fish varies depending on its purpose and specific circumstances. Generally speaking, the ideal ratio of saltwater in a koi fish tank is between 0.1% and 0.3%, that is, add 1-3 grams of salt to every 1000ml of water. In addition, when it is necessary to assist in relieving the imbalance of the osmotic pressure of the fish body, salt can be added at a concentration of 0.3%-0.5%, which means adding 300-500 grams of salt to every 100 liters of water.

Effects at Different Concentrations
Low Concentration (0.1%-0.3%): The saltwater at this concentration is mainly used for daily maintenance. It can inhibit the growth of pathogens, keep the water quality clean, and is suitable for daily use.
Medium Concentration (0.3%-0.5%): The saltwater at this concentration is mainly used to assist in relieving the imbalance of the osmotic pressure of the fish body and is suitable for dealing with some diseases or stressful situations.
High Concentration (0.8%): When the salt concentration reaches 0.8%, it can effectively inhibit the ability of pathogens to attack the fish, and is suitable for treating some serious diseases or injuries.
Precautions for Using Salt
Concentration Control: The salt concentration should be controlled within 0.8% of the total water in the tank to avoid adverse effects on the fish.
Use with Caution for Juvenile Fish: Saltwater with a high concentration (exceeding 0.5%) may damage the mucus on the surface of koi fish, so it should be used with caution for juvenile fish.
