Koi fish won't eat the following types of aquatic plants:
- Dwarf Baby Tears: This aquatic plant grows rapidly, and koi fish are generally not interested in it.
- Pearlweed: Similar to Dwarf Baby Tears, Pearlweed is also not a common choice for koi fish to eat.
- Green Elf: This aquatic plant is not only beautiful, but also difficult for koi fish to nibble on.
- Anubias: The stems and leaves of Anubias are very thick, sturdy and firm, making it difficult for koi fish to chew.

Koi fish may eat the following types of aquatic plants:
- Duckweed-like aquatic plants: These types of aquatic plants float directly on the water surface of the fish tank, with their roots growing directly in the water. They are relatively soft and are easily eaten by koi fish.
- Rooted aquatic plants: Such as Water Sprite, Cryptocoryne, etc. These aquatic plants are easily uprooted by fish that dig in the sand, affecting their growth.
- Attached aquatic plants: Such as Java Moss, Anubias, etc. Although Java Moss needs something to attach to for growth, it is easily nibbled by koi fish. As for Anubias, because its stems and leaves are thick, it is not easily chewed.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Keeping Aquatic Plants in a Koi Fish Tank:
- Advantages: Aquatic plants can provide shade and hiding places, help maintain the ecological balance, and also beautify the environment of the fish tank.
- Disadvantages: Koi fish have a high demand for oxygen. Too many aquatic plants will consume a large amount of oxygen and release carbon dioxide, which may affect the growth and health of koi fish. In addition, koi fish will eat the aquatic plants, leading to water quality pollution and requiring frequent cleaning.
