The Oscar fish (scientific name: Astronotus ocellatus) can grow up to 45.7 centimeters in length at most and weigh as much as 1.6 kilograms. This kind of fish belongs to the Cichlidae family and is native to the Amazon River in South America. The Oscar fish is relatively large in size and has a fierce temperament, so it's suitable to be raised alone and not advisable to be mixed with other fish species.

The Oscar fish has relatively high requirements for its rearing environment. The suitable water temperature ranges from 20℃ to 28℃, and the optimal water temperature is between 24℃ and 26℃. If the water temperature is lower than 18℃ or higher than 30℃, its survival will be affected. Besides, the Oscar fish needs at least 2 hours of light every day to maintain its bright body color. Due to its fierce temperament and the habit of chasing and swallowing small fish, when raising it, you need to be careful to avoid mixing it with other small fish species.
