Parrotfish usually enter the breeding period five or six months after birth. Female parrotfish can breed when they are over four centimeters long, and male parrotfish can breed when they are over five centimeters long. During the breeding process, the paired parrotfish that have successfully paired will be isolated and raised separately. Usually, a larger breeding clay pot and some aquatic plants will be placed to provide a safe environment. The recommended hatching temperature is between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius, and it takes about seven days for the fertilized eggs to hatch successfully.

Parrotfish are carnivorous fish. They mainly live under the surface of tropical and subtropical oceans and are distributed in the Western Pacific Ocean, the Western Indian Ocean, the Red Sea and other places. They cannot reproduce offspring among themselves. Most parrotfish are hybrids of the Red Devil Cichlid and the Redhead Cichlid. Parrotfish are very united. When night falls, they will secrete mucus to cover their whole bodies, and dissolve it clean when day breaks.
